Visit some of the museums and attractions the city has to offer, such as the Perlan Dome or National Museum.
  3. Þingvellir National Park Iceland
One of the most historically important places in Iceland, this national park is the site of Iceland’s parliament from the 10th to 18th century and was one of the oldest parliamentary institutions in the world. A UNESCO world heritage site due to its special tectonic and volcanic location, it sits in a rift valley between two tectonic plates and is part of the Golden Circle.
  4. Gullfoss Iceland
Commonly seen as one waterfall but it is in fact two separate waterfalls with the lower waterfall dropping 21 meters and the upper one 11 metres. Formed in the canyon of the Hvítá river during an interglacial period. The famous landmark forms part of the Golden Circle tour.
  5. Strokkur and The Great Geysir Iceland
The Great Geysir; the first geyser known to modern Europeans which has been dormant since 1916.  The English word geyser derives from the Icelandic word Geysir, meaning gusher. Although The Great Geysir is now inactive, there is still a lot of active geysers nearby, most notably Strokkur just 100m away which is a fountain geyser erupting every 6-10 minutes.
  6. Reykjanes Peninsular Iceland
A UNESCO Geopark with volcanic and geothermal activity that has created caves, craters, lava fields and hot springs. It is the only place in the world where the mid-Atlantic ridge is visible above sea level and is just a few minutes away from the Blue Lagoon. In the region there are more lighthouses than villages and it makes a good activity on the way to the airport.
  7. Seljalandsfoss Iceland
Located along the south coast in the river Seljalandsá, Seljalandsfoss is a magnificent 60 metre waterfall which is the only one of its kind where visitors can walk behind. 8. Skogar Folk Museum Iceland
Skogar folk museum has over 15,000 regional folk craft artefacts spread over 3 museums and 6 historic buildings. It preserves the cultural heritage of this region and has a reconstruction of old farmhouses to see how people lived in the past. Situated next to Skógafoss waterfall, it makes a great educational visit.
  9. Skógafoss Iceland
Another of Iceland’s spectacular waterfalls is situated at the cliffs of the former coastline on the Skógá river in the village of Skogar. You will be able to see the scenic surroundings including two snow-capped glaciers. You might see fishermen by the river below due to the population of salmon and char. You can hear the roar of the water as it falls from the cliff above and if it’s a sunny day you will see a rainbow in front of the waterfall.
  10. Sólheimajökull Glacier Iceland
Take a walk and get up close to view the Sólheimajökull glacier in southern Iceland. Situated between the volcanoes Eyjafjallajökull and Katla it is one of the most accessible glaciers in Iceland. Although access is relatively easy, you should not attempt to walk it without a professional guide. You can add on a glacier hike to your tour and walk onto the glacier as part of a guided tour.
  11. Vik í Mýrdal Iceland
Vik í Mýrdal, is the southernmost village in Iceland and situated along the seafront.  It is known as the rainiest place in the country and is becoming every more popular with tourists. It is a perfect places to access Reynisfjara, a black sandy beach, and Dyrhólaey meaning ‘the arch with a hole’.
  12. Reynisdrangar Iceland
Reynisdrangar are basalt sea stacks situated under the mountain Reynisfjall on a black sandy beach near the village Vík í Mýrdal.
